Ninjutsu is a classical combat martial art, not a sport, so there are no competitions held. Training is carried out in pairs where one student (Uke) performs the attacking moves and their training partner (Tori) responds as the defender. This method of training with a partner is used in both the classical Japanese schools and the modern self protection techniques that the dojo teaches.

As mentioned in the Dojo History page, the Bujinkan system covers nine historical family schools, each with its own specialised method of combat. Students are taught striking techniques, throws, locks, holds and pressure points from those schools as part of the unarmed system and an extensive array of classical Japanese weapons including sword, spear, staff and traditional Ninja weaponry such as shuriken (throwing blades) kusari and kusarigama (weighted chain weapons).

All training is carried out in a safe and controlled environment to minimise the risk to each other, especially when using weapons which can be particularly dangerous if not used correctly.

For your first Ninjutsu class you should turn up in loose comfortable clothing or If you have a martial arts uniform from another system then it is acceptable to wear that. Training is conducted at a level to suit your ability and you will be partnered up with a senior grade for the first few training sessions before moving into the main class.

FULL TRAINING IN THE ABOVE IS OPEN TO ANYONE OVER THE AGE OF 18
